Features
The frame is in stainless steel with integrated electric cabinet in vertical position for comfortable access. A Siemens PLC manages the machine while a powerful 19” touchscreen PC performs both the image processing and the HMI with real time images from cameras.
The image processing is based on the acquisition of a fast sequence of frames that are compared each to the other; moving particles can be distinguished from static objects like printings or defects of glass sidewalls by means of “image subtraction” algorythm.
Hundreds of receipts and years of production data (batches, alarms, modification of parameters,…) can be stored in hard disk of PC and checked with the function “Audit trail”; they can be printed or exported to USB key or sent to supervisor local network.
Different levels of password (operator, supervisor, administrator, quality, maintenance) allow access to partial or complete functions. A UPS, to prevent loss of data, and a modem for remote service can be added.
The Knapp test can be automatically executed in the turret with a dedicated program visualizing graphics and results.

Description
The infeed/outfeed is by trays or in line. Containers are collected by an intermittent turret where they are pressed over a beaker by an upper spindle. The containers are spun at high speed and then suddenly stopped so that particles can twirl inside the liquid and be detected by the cameras. The inspection is repeated in three stations each one equipped with both back and bottom light for maximum flexibility. It is possible to add stations for inspection of vials sealing, for tip defects (with rejection before the turret) and for detection of black spot on ampoules tip. Rejection is made with suction technique.

C3

C3 equipment is designed for the 100% fully automated visual inspection of glass and plastic containers ranging in diameter between 8 mm and 78 mm at a maximum production speed of 200 unit per minute.

Description
C3 equipment is made up of visual inspection systems belonging to three categories:

  1. Foreign contaminants inspection: the container to be inspected is spun before reaching the unit;
  2. Cosmetic, cap, tip, fill level inspection: the container to be inspected is spun when passing through the unit;
  3. Other inspection units: optional or custom controls.

Multiple infeed and outfeed configurations are available according specific containers and user requirements:

  • Manual loading and unloading: Tray in / Tray out + rotary turntables as an option;

BM

automated visual inspection of plastic bags

The BM machine performs in automatic way the inspection of particles and the leak test of plastic bags; as option it is possible to add a labeler and other cosmetic controls.

Description
The operator positions the bags over an infeed belt between some slots. A pneumatic arm collects automatically the containers one by one and positions them between the pinces of a turret. The turret moves in intermittent way through four stations each one dedicated to a different test. Two stations are dedicated to inspection of foreign matter after rotation of bags along their horizontal axis, one to the leak test with high voltage method and one to the labelling. Rejects bags are automatically expelled by falling, while accepted proceed towards outfeed belt.

RC

The Semi-automatic Inspection Machine helps the operator in the visual inspection of ampoules, vials and syringes filled with liquid, powder or lyophilized.

Functioning
The great number of options and possible layouts due to the traditional Convel modular design, the smooth and silent movement, the user friendly interface, many glare free illuminations make RC the best method to overcome the tedious and slow manual control performed by the operators. The containers are transported by a set of rollers tilted at the most suitable angle. Containers are rotated on their axis to allow the operator to inspect all the 360° of the surface with the help of high optical quality lens and mirrors.
In case of liquid products, containers are fastly spun before inspection in order to twirl particles. Rejection can be manual or automatic by means of an infrared rays barrier.

Operations

Operator can turn on the bottom light or the back light or both. He can adjust the intensity of the backlight and the speed of the spinning motor by two potentiometers in the front of the bench.
By PLC display on front panel of he can set the duration of spinning and visualizes the speed of spinning in order to have a repeatable condition of test.
Operator puts the container in the spindle and presses the pushbutton on the side of the bench; the container rotates and then suddenly stops.

The particles inside the liquid twirls and become easily visible. Operator uses a lens to better identify their presence. The lens has adjustable position for better comfort of the operator.
Operator can choose white background, or illuminated or total dark (using a sliding black mask). An additional mask, between the container and the lens, is used to cover the undesired reflections of the meniscus.

TB

Description
TB is a compact table top bench designed to perform the visual inspection of containers to detect the particles inside the liquid.
It can be installed in laboratory for quality test or it can accompany automatic inspection machines for periodical evaluation of results. The execution of the test is absolutely simple and safe for the operator.
The bench is available in two different version:
the complete manual bench that include a magnificent lens used by the operator to see the containers and inspect it after spinning;
the automatic version with a camera and a laptop that inspect automatically the container. The operator has only to load the bench, start the test and unload the bench.
